At the west end of the Yakima Valley you’ll find the neighboring towns of Cowiche and Tieton. They may be small, but they offer some great tourist and recreational opportunites.

About the Communities

Cowiche

Located between Yakima and Tieton, the town of Cowiche (actually an “unincorporated place”) boasts orchards and farms that support the Valley’s agricultural richness. The Cowiche area provides local hiking opportunities such as access to the western end of the Cowiche Canyon hiking trail and to Cowiche Canyon Conservancy’s many miles of trails in shrub-steppe landscape, offering panoramic views.

Tieton

Nearby Tieton is a town on the move, having seen tremendous growth over the years and attracted enterprises that make it a tourist destination. The community boasts an artisan business incubator sponsoring exhibits, antique shows and special events right in the middle of town. Conveniently located near City Square, visitors will love the nearby wineries and gourmet food companies within walking distance of some of the best artisans in Yakima County.
